{"id":3069,"date":"2025-10-29T17:54:49","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T16:54:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saltoagencia.com.ar\/?p=3069"},"modified":"2025-10-29T17:59:04","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T16:59:04","slug":"regional-meeting-on-the-governance-of-digital-platforms-in-latin-america-and-the-caribbean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saltoagencia.com.ar\/en\/regional-meeting-on-the-governance-of-digital-platforms-in-latin-america-and-the-caribbean\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional Meeting on the Governance of Digital Platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>23 October 2025<\/strong>, within the framework of <strong>UNESCO\u2019s Global Media and Information Literacy Week (MIL Week 2025)<\/strong>, the <strong>Regional Meeting \u201cFor a Trustworthy Internet: From Principles to Practice \u2013 Advancing the Governance of Digital Platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean\u201d<\/strong> took place in Cartagena de Indias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organized by <strong>UNESCO<\/strong>, in collaboration with the <strong>Global Forum of Networks (GFN)<\/strong> and the <strong>I4T Knowledge Network<\/strong>, the meeting brought together <strong>regulatory authorities, civil society, academia, governments, and digital platforms<\/strong> to discuss regional progress in implementing <strong>UNESCO\u2019s Guidelines for the Governance of Digital Platforms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digital policy expert and consultant <strong>Natalia Zuazo<\/strong> took part in the event, presenting a <strong>regional overview of digital platform governance in Latin America<\/strong> during a panel alongside <strong>Tawfik Jelassi<\/strong>, UNESCO\u2019s Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, and other distinguished regional leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting highlighted key <strong>opportunities and challenges<\/strong> to strengthen <strong>multistakeholder and human rights\u2013based approaches<\/strong> to digital governance across Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants included representatives from <strong>PRAI<\/strong>, <strong>CRC Colombia<\/strong>, <strong>SECOM Brazil<\/strong>, <strong>Fundaci\u00f3n Karisma<\/strong>, <strong>Universidad de San Andr\u00e9s<\/strong>, <strong>UPF Barcelona<\/strong>, and the <strong>I4T Knowledge Network<\/strong>, among other key actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dialogue helped to <strong>advance regional cooperation<\/strong> toward a more <strong>inclusive, transparent, and trustworthy digital ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Reuni\u00f3n Regional \u201cPor un Internet Confiable: De los Principios a la Pr\u00e1ctica LAC&quot;.\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/udRSj31x88U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 October 2025, within the framework of UNESCO\u2019s Global Media and Information Literacy Week (MIL Week 2025), the Regional Meeting \u201cFor a Trustworthy Internet: From Principles to Practice \u2013 Advancing the Governance of Digital Platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean\u201d took place in Cartagena de Indias.
